Mom Talk

Being a mom of multiples is definitely not easy. It makes you reminisce about when you only had one. Those were the easy days! I see moms with one baby and I swear I could handle it with a breeze. Think you have it hard now? Wait until you have two, or three. Being a mom in general is a hard task. But being a mom of two, three, or dare I say four? That is hard on a whole other level. As most of you know, I have three little ones. A 4 1/2 year old girl, a 3 year old boy, and a 9 month old baby girl. I love how they will all grow up together and I love how well they play together. But let me tell you, having them so close together is so difficult because it's kind of like a day care at home, except your totally out of ratio. Not only is it always loud, but they all have different needs, and of course it's always at the same time. My daughter wants breakfast, and at the same time my son needs help rushing to the potty because he's finally potty training, and my 9 month old is crying her eyes out because she wants her bottle. How do I do it? I have no clue. I really can't even explain it when I try. I just somehow am able to get it all done. Granted there are times when one child has to cry for a little while, or one needs to wait a couple minutes until they get their food, but somehow it all gets done. I guess prioritizing is a must when you have multiples. Whose need is more important? Obviously if I don't take my son to the potty, I'll have a huge mess to clean up, plus he'll need a bath. So he would come first in this situation. My 4 year old can easily be distracted with the TV while I attend to my son. And my 9 month old?, she's safe in her swing and crying for two minutes will not hurt her (you learn that after your second baby!). Everyday is a mission, or every hour I should say, to get to the end of it as smoothly and as calmly as possible. Quietly? that will never happen. Unless it's nap time. They yell and scream and they make you do it too. It's hard not losing it once in a while, I'd lie if I said I didn't. But you have to try and remember they are kids, and you can't expect them to always listen and be like an adult. You gotta let the small things go and know that the day will be over soon. Patience is the key to a successful day with multiples, I think at least.

I'm obsessed with my children. Not a day goes by without me worrying about them and not a night passes without me thanking God I have them. As hectic as my days are, I honestly wouldn't change it for the world. The only thing I would say that I miss about being a mother to just one child is the one on one time you get to have with them. With having multiples, you are so busy taking care of child after child, you don't get that much quality time with each one. I didn't notice this when my son was born. Him and my eldest daughter are only a year and a half apart and i was able to have great quality time with both together. We had good floor time when they were young and always went out to parks and museums when they were a little older. Since the two were so close in age it was easy to do the same activities with both. But now that I have my 9 month old, and there is such an age difference between her and the other two, I definitely feel like it's hard to keep doing those things with her being so dependent on me. Having her in the stroller or baby sling while trying to play with the other two at the park is just not that easy or even fun for that matter. I decided I needed to be fair to my other two so I started leaving her at my moms house for a few hours so I can have some good one on one time with them. I felt bad at first, like I was being a bad mom. But then as the day went on and I was actually able to swing and go down the slide with my kids again, I realized that it was okay to do that. It didn't mean I was abandoning my youngest, she loves grandma, and grandma definitely loves her. I was just spending quality time with my other two, just like I spend quality time with her during feedings and when the other two are playing together. As a mom of multiples you have to forget and let go that feeling of guilt you get occasionally. Sometimes, you have to do what makes more sense. My youngest won't even know she missed something. But my older two totally will.

I see mothers with grown multiples and I always ask, does it get easier? They usually say yes. As the years go by, they become independent and they won't constantly be needing mommy. But, it'll still be hard, because you will still have multiples to worry about! ;)

Hope I didn't scare any of you out of having more than one child. Believe me, it is an amazing thing watching your kids grow, and making memories with each one. Having a big family and watching your kids grow up together. There's nothing like it. As hard as it is, it is the most rewarding thing in the world.

A little Wednesday night mom talk I felt like I needed to add on my blog. Since it is such a big part of my life.

Outfit of the Week

This week's outfit was a little late getting put up on the blog. Blame it on the weather and not really having anywhere to go. I usually hibernate as much as possible when it's freezing temperatures outside. This Cali girl still hasn't gotten used to the cold weather of the East Coast. Until I do, I'll stay indoors. But when it's not too bad out there, I'll take advantage and wear cute sweaters, boots, and coats. Things I hardly owned living in the South Bay ;)

A causal day out with the family. I wanted to be comfortable yet stylish, of course. I paired light blue jeans with a cream hi-lo sweater, and accessorized it with a turquoise and brown necklace. I wore a gold cuff that I absolutely love, and a light brown leather purse. I topped the whole look off with brown leather ankle boots. I was comfortable all day, until I needed to put my coat on ... because the weather here is just so unpredictable and I was freezing! ;)

Clark's leather booties, Badgley Mischka purse, Forever 21 cuff.

Between You & Me hi-lo sweater. New York & Company jeans.

Omelet Anyone?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Having three young children to run after and a house to keep in order, I know without this important meal, I just would not have the energy I need to keep up with it all. It IS my most important meal of the day. So I try to make it a good one. Try this great recipe and start your morning off right!

SPINACH STUFFED OMELET

INGREDIENTS:
4 large eggs
Half a small onion chopped
Hand full of frozen chopped spinach defrosted & drained
Half of a small tomato
Garlic powder
Salt
Chili powder
Fajita seasoning
Olive oil
Colby jack cheese (as desired)

METHOD:  Heat oil in pan and fry onions until golden brown.

Add tomatoes and spinach and cook until spinach is slightly crispy. Add salt and garlic powder (just enough to flavor filling.)

In a bowl beat eggs. Add desired amount of salt, garlic powder, fajita seasoning, and chili powder,

Fry egg until cooked on both sides.

Pour spinach mixture on one side of the fried egg and top it with cheese.

Fold egg over and cook until cheese is melted.

Serve with toast and cream cheese to compliment the spinach filling in the omelet.

This breakfast dish is mine and my husbands favorite. Not only is it delicious, but it keeps us full for a long time. The protein in the egg gives us the energy we need to tackle our day, and the spinach is full of great nutrients that our body needs.

A good breakfast means a good start to your day.

Enjoy!

Monday's Pick

Monday already? Is it me or did this weekend go by faster than ever? I will say though, it was nice to have a three day weekend, but it seemed to have flown by. It's funny, because you'd think "weekday or weekend, what difference does it make ...she's a stay at home mom!" and that is true most of the time. But when the weekend comes it means the hubby is off and that makes a world of difference ... especially to a stay at home mom. Having an extra pair of hands during the day is such a great help. Plus, the weekend is when we have some good family time and the kids are usually more relaxed when we are out and about. Now, if only they'd learn that the weekend is also meant to sleep in and it would be fine if they slept until at least 10am. ;)

Well, since it is Monday I'm here to give you my weekly pick. I'm a huge fan of natural products. They are so important especially for kids. I'm always washing bottles, pacifiers, and sippy cups. I hated the idea of using dish soap and dishwasher liquid that could be dangerous to my children's health. I mean anything that concentrated and that colorful can't be good for you especially when heated in the dishwasher. I found two products I love and will use even after my kids are all grown up.

Seventh Generation dish soap and dishwasher liquid. They are amazing. Dishes come out sparkling clean and I don't have to worry about any harmful chemical or dye residue going in my families mouth. The lavender mint scent from the dish soap is just so pleasant it almost relaxes you as you wash those dishes. And the lemon scent of the dishwasher liquid will make your dishwasher smell great. You will not be disappointed by these two products. Try them out and let me know what you think.

Happy Monday everyone ;)

Pretty Things

Sometimes I come across things that just make me very happy. For instance these Leuven Alexander flats. I found these beauties on one of my favorite online shopping websites; www.hautelook.com. I love flats, my love for them especially grew after becoming a mom. They are just so much easier to run after the little ones in and get all those errands conquered without needing a foot soak after. Plus they are still very stylish and go with anything from jeans to a dress. Never thought I'd buy flats with straps. But when I saw these pretty little things, I just couldn't resist. I just had to have them.

Love the magenta/burgundy color. And the gold stud work on the straps made this buy a must.

I really like how high the back of these flats are. This makes them much more comfortable.

These arrived almost three weeks ago, and they've been in the box since. Magenta, velvet, and gold studs? I should keep 'em in a glass box ...sooo pretty!! ;)

Who says great looking shoes have to be super expensive? got an awesome deal on these.  Check out Leuven Alexander online and you'll fall in love with the collection.
Also, check out www.hautelook.com I warn you, you'll be hooked! ;)

A Recipe For Leftovers

Ever find yourself throwing away left over white rice? this was the case at my house. I hate wasting food. And white rice is something that is so easy to renew. So I created this simple and easy recipe that is a huge hit with my family. I no longer have left over rice that I'm throwing away. Next time you have left over white rice, give this recipe a try.

This is such an easy recipe that it doesn't even require any measuring. Just add as much or as little of the ingredients as your taste buds desire.

INGREDIENTS: cooked white rice, onion, yellow bell pepper, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, capers, oil, salt, ginger & garlic paste, cilantro.

METHOD: Heat oil in large pan, saute onions and peppers until they are translucent. Add in garlic & ginger paste, salt and capers. Stir until well combined. Slowly add in cooked white rice and mix well. Let everything cook for a few minutes until all the flavors had a chance to
blend. Finally, sprinkle a big handful of chopped cilantro and mix rice one last time.

Serve as a side dish to compliment any dinner. Enjoy!

Outfit of the Week

Being a stay at home mom, I feel like I hardly get to dress up. I'm always in pj's or yoga pants and a comfy t-shirt. Throw on a pair of jeans and I'm ready for the park! ;)
I get excited when I have an opportunity to actually take time to get ready. I've always been a lover of fashion and I truly enjoy putting outfits together. Nothing too crazy or daring, just things that fit my style and personality. Here's an easy look I threw together earlier this week.
I had this necklace from New York and Company for a long time. I feel like the peachy pink color combination works so well with so many things. This time I paired it with this relaxed fit Cynthia Rowley t-shirt. I love the dark maroon color which is really in this season.

This navy linen blazer works so well with anything casual because the material isn't too dressy. Throw it on a pair of jeans for a well put together look. I also like to wear it on a maxi dress. You can do so much with it. I found this at one of my favorite places in the world, Marshalls! ;)

Navy, maroon, peach, pink. These colors compliment each other so well.

Monday's Top Picks

It's Monday, again. Does the weekend ever slow down? I didn't think so. As a busy mom and housewife, I tend to do a lot of my major cleaning on the weekends. I usually do it all in one day and as early in the weekend as possible so I can relax or do something else I enjoy the rest of the weekend. Yes, I said it. I enjoy cleaning. Something about the satisfaction I get after a room is mess free. Even if it lasts only a day ...with two young ones running around with sticky fingers and their love of scattering every toy on the every inch of carpet it definitely doesn't last too long! ;) but none the less a clean room makes me the happiest girl in the world. I have a few cleaners that I absolutely love. Since Monday is my top picks day, I decided to make a list of my favorite cleaners that I use on a regular.

Nausheen's List of Favorite Cleaners :

  •   Fabuloso  - this multi-purpose cleaner tackles any job. I use it in the bathrooms all the time to clean up counter tops and even wipe up the toilet seats. I also use it on the baseboards throughout the house. It can also be used in the kitchen. Since it's multi- purpose it can be used pretty much anywhere. Plus its cheap and leaves a fresh scent that I love. I usually get the purple kind, but the blue one smells great too. Sometimes before guest come over I drop a cap full of the stuff in the toilet and leave it unflushed. It gives the bathroom a just cleaned look and scent. LOVE THIS STUFF ;)
  • Clorox Clean Up - this is a MUST in the bathrooms and kitchen. At least in my house. I keep it under my sink cabinet and I make sure to give the sink a good spray down every night and wash it away with the hottest water from the hose of my faucet. I also use it right after i cut meat to clean and disinfect the counter top and sink area. The bathrooms get a good bleach clean up every weekend. Disinfecting is so important with or without kids in the house. With things like kitchen faucets and bathrooms being used so frequently throughout the week you don't realize how much germs linger around that can make you sick. Don't think I'm crazy, but I also wipe down door knobs and light switches at least twice a month with the Clorox Clean-Up.
  • Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner- This is a great product that is safe to use around the kids. It doesn't leave any weird smell and it polishes the floors so nicely. It's easy to use. Just spray wipe and go. Love it. It also has a polish you can use separately after the cleaner.
  • Green Works - this all purpose cleaner is amazing. I love this as much as I love Fabuloso. This is an all natural cleaner and you don't have to worry about any harsh chemicals. It leaves a fresh scent that's not too  floral or grassy like a lot of the other all natural cleaners. I use this stuff to clean the microwave and fridge. I just feel more comfortable using this rather than fabuluso or clorox clean-up in places that come in contact with food. This cleaner works wonders. Its great for granite counter tops  too.
  • Seventh Generation Bathroom Cleaner- my absolute favorite bathroom cleaner in the world. And it's all natural. I wish the scent was a bit more floral but the lemongrass citrus isn't too bad. This stuff works amazing in the shower. Your tiles and grout will look so clean that you will wonder why you wasted money and fresh air using all those products full of chemicals. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I use it weekly in the shower and tub. It's also antibacterial too. Can it get any better?
  • Hope's Perfect Stainless Steel Cleaner - This is the best stainless steel cleaner I have ever used. And I've used many. This cleaner not only works perfect on stainless steel it also is an amazing glass cook top cleaner. Just scrape off burnt gunk with a blade, spray with the cleaner and wipe with a paper towel and your stove top will be looking like new. Most stainless steel cleaners leave steaks that take forever to wipe away. This cleaner seriously works like magic. I LOVE IT!!!
  • Sprayway Glass Cleaner - This is my must have item in my home. I love this glass cleaner. No streaks and a great fresh scent. Plus the lady on the can is just so cute! ;) I use it on all the mirrors, glass table tops, and even on the granite counters. It leaves a beautiful shine every time.
Well, there you have it. My list of cleaners that make my life a little bit easier when I have to tackle the job of cleaning. Remember as with any cleaners, read instructions before using and also be sure not to mix any together. Hope these products help you around the house and you love them as much as I do.
Happy cleaning everybody!
