Make Time For Your Makeup Brushes

How often do your clean your makeup brushes? I'm not gonna lie, it's been a while since I've cleaned mine. It's a very easy task to forget. But did you know your supposed to clean them every week? Makes sense if you think about it. We use them almost every day to apply foundation, powder, blush, and eye shadows. Now imagine how many germs and makeup residue is lingering around on them from daily use, not to mention the oils from our face. It's all piling up on those bristles and we don't even know it. Cleaning your makeup brushes is super easy and doesn't cost much either. All you need is a few simple items and your on your way to better beauty hygiene.

Things you will need:
*Small bowl (optional)
*A paper towel or wash cloth
*Baby shampoo or any gentle liquid soap that will lather well. You can even use antibacterial soap or your face wash too as long as it's nothing creamy.
*Your dirty makeup brushes ;)

Hold your  brushes under your sink faucet in warm water until the  makeup washes off them and the water runs clear.
Add a few drops of baby shampoo or soap in a small bowl with water and swish your brushes around until you see a lather. You can even squirt the soap directly onto your brushes and work up a lather with your fingers (this is what I usually do). Rinse the brushes off again under warm running water until they are clear of soap. Pat dry and reshape the bristles.
Lay them flat on a paper towel or wash cloth until dry. Make sure not to dry your brushes upright in a cup since the water can run down the handles and weaken the glue. It could also cause the wood to mold since its soaking up a lot of water that way. It's always better to air dry them flat. Wash your brushes at night, when you know you won't be using them for several hours. This will allow them to dry properly and they'll be ready for use in the morning.

Remember ladies, every week!! I know I'll be adding this to my Friday night things to do list. ;)

A Satisfying Side

There's nothing more satisfying to me than when my family eats all their veggies. What's better? When they actually enjoy eating them. I make sure to keep the healthy recipes that were a hit with my family close on hand so I can keep them a part of my family's diet. I needed a quick side dish for my fried chicken the other night. A light and healthy side to balance the meal out. I can't tell you enough how good spinach is for you. I've written about this green before and believe me you will want to incorporate this green into your diet. Rich with vitamins and a crowd pleaser. How can you go wrong?
Here is my new twist on my favorite green.

Kidney beans
Sea salt
Garlic powder
Olive oil

Heat frying pan with a little olive oil and saute spinach until cooked. Add kidney beans and corn and saute for a few extra minutes and season with sea salt and garlic powder.

So easy, so yummy, so healthy.
