Black & White

Black and white is a such a classic combination. Probably one of the easiest to put together and one of the safest options when you are just not sure what wear. Here is one of my favorite black and white outfits. Classy, simple, and comfortable.

A crisp white collar shirt is a must in a girls closet. A piece that is so versatile and will dress up any outfit and give it that touch of class, even when you pair it with denim jeans. I especially love this white collard tunic. So cute with just leggings too.

This black cropped sweater is probably one of my favorite pieces of clothing in my closet. I wear it with dresses, skirts, tunics, you name it. It just adds a bit of  sophistication to any outfit.

Black skinny pants are a must. These are from H&M and they fit just perfect, and they hold up so well. I've worn and washed these atleast 50 times and they are still just as good looking as when I first bought them.

The things you find at Target! these black flats had to come home with me. Super cute and comfy too. Loving this whole Dolce Vita for Taret line.

Ladies, when in doubt  of what to wear, choose black and white. You can't go wrong.

Spring Brights

Spring is finally here! and so are beautiful blooms, bright colors, and pretty patterns. As much as I love to dress up, I often find myself reaching for jeans and a t-shirt. Let's face it, is there anything else more comfortable? Well, aside from yoga pants. ;) Sometimes comfortable and trendy don't go hand in hand, but the jeans and a t-shirt look does not have to be boring and can indeed be trendy. It's all about accessorizing and making your outfit pop. Sping is the perfect time to do just that. Choosing white jeans instead of traditional blue jeans will drastically change the look of your outfit. Especially when you have a bright patterned top. And now is the perfect time to experiment with fun colors and patterns, so choose pieces that pop and enjoy the fun fashion of this season.

Outfit of The Day

When the chilly weather is coming to an end, I usually like to try and get all my chilly weather outfits in. Because, as ready as I am for sunny, warm Spring weather, I will definitely miss boot and sweater weather. Here is one of my favorite layered looks.

Upma Anyone?

Cold days are the perfect days to have spicy food. And what better way to do spice, than Indian cooking? Here is a quick and super easy way to enjoy some spice and comfort on a cold Winter day.
Upma, a South Indian dish made up of Semolina (a coarse rice flour).  It's usually eaten around breakfast time, but I swear, I can eat this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's one of my favorites. Next time your in the mood for some spice and need a quick fix, try this recipe. It's sure to warm you up and provide you with ultimate comfort.

Ingredients:

Malt O Meal (refer to box. Amount depends on how much you are making.)
Onion diced in cubes - 1/3 cup or half a small onion
Tomato diced in cubes- 1/3 cup or one small tomato
Cilantro finley chopped -1/3 cup
Green chilies finely chopped - 2
Dried red chilies -3-4
Salt - per taste
Ginger garlic paste- 1tsp
Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric- 1/2 tsp
Butter - 1tbs
Water (refer to box)
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 4-5
Oil -2 tbs

Method:

In a medium sauce pan on medium heat, heat up oil and add in onions, cook until golden brown. Then add in tomatoes, green chilies, cilantro, red chili powder, turmeric, salt, and garlic ginger paste. Cook until tomatoes are mostly pureed and spices are well blended into the tomatoes. Add in dried red chilies, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. Cook for a minute or so. Then add water and raise the heat, and bring to a boil. Slowly stir in Malt-O- Meal and return to a slight boil. Stir and cover sauce pan and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 2 minutes stirring occasionally. Uncover and stir in butter. Serve hot and enjoy!

The recipe above will be good for up to 2-3 servings of Malt O Meal. When making more, just add in a little more of each spice until it is suitable for your taste. I usually eyeball everything when cooking, so feel free to play with it until it approves your taste buds. Oh and btw, you can add whatever you like to this. Extra veggies, meat, whatever. It's very versatile.

Here are a few pictures to help guide you.

Enjoy!
